UCU Bradford is disappointed to hear from HQ that Pinsent Masons, a law firm representing more than 60 of our largest Universities, advises its clients to encourage staff to abstain from the current pay ballot – a direct and cynical attempt to scupper our just cause through a subversion of the spirit of the Trades Union Act.
If you want a fair deal on pay, pay inequality, workload, and casualisation, then vote with UCU in the ballot. A clear mandate for industrial action will strengthen the hand of negotiators as they seek to persuade our leaders.
Regardless of your views, if you want to protect the democratic rights of UCU members to have their voice heard, make sure you cast your vote. Not to do so merely plays into the hands of those who would seek to remove those hard won rights.
There are just 10 days left; the ballot closes on 19th. Please vote – you owe it to yourself and your colleagues to do so.
